I'm sorry for not posting any thing for long period. Any way, yesterday I started my career at PDO. As any first day, there was induction courses and a lot of offices should be visited. As well engineer, I will go the desert after I will take safety courses within 10 days. After that I stay in desert at least 4 months to get some experiences.

Also, yesterday I went to Al-Hmeria market in Ruwi. I were searching about Sony Ericsson K800i. After long trip in roads of Ruwi, I found it in Kilopatera shop. It's cost me O.R 155. But it deserves that money.

Last Wednesday, I went to PDO (Oman Petroleum Development Company) to sign the contract. The story begun before one month when I were invited to attend assessment center. In that assessment I did a technical interview, a case study and a discussion group. It took more than 7 hours. After one week I received a call form PDO told me that I passed the assessment center.

O.K. I'm going to be a well site engineer. Actually, first I must finish three year training period before I become a real well site engineer. I think I will return to books again very soon. Anyways I love to learn new things rather just sitting in a beautiful office doing same things all the day.

Well, I can hear you stammer that how much I will be paid. Not that much. My basic salary will be 513 O.R. I think it will secure my live in the next five year at least. There are a long list of duties that I must finish them as soon as possible (i.e. Car, wife, house,... etc).

By the way, I'm so sorry about not updating this blog frequently. Well, I'm busy with the driving license. It causes a headache to me. I hope I can finish it as soon as possible. In addition, I'm writing some tutorials about how to use office suit OpenOffice2. They will be easy to follow since I'm using step by step style. I think I will release them in a book format. I've finished the Calc (spreadsheet program in OpenOffice2 like Excel in Microsoft Office.) section. It's more than 120 pages and cover a lot of topics. In this week, I'm going to start Impress section. Impress is used to make presentations. I hope I can finish it before I go to PDO.

I like to browse the Internet everyday. I want to keep track news of computer and open source community. I've started discovering the Internet since my first year in Sultan Qaboos University. I used to be Internet addict. I don't know why does Internet attract me? Maybe it offers a new world full of information and knowledge. Alaways, I got board with time, when I ware browsing Internet in my collage computer lab. Actually I feel more comfortable when I surfing Internet in my home.

Did I say I used to be Internet addict? I remember when the bill of dial-up Internet came with more than 70 O.R. It shocked me because the university gave me only 120 O.R at month. After that , I decided to used a prepaid Internet card to reduce the Internet cost. So Internet cost became less than 20 O.R. But it was still high for a student. Eveything remained same till I went to Salalah for summer training at the end of my forth year. I stayed one month there. There was neither computer nor Internet. I learned there How to live without computer and Internet. After that I've freed my life from the Internet addiction .

When I get a job , I go to a Nwars showing room directly to subscribe to a Nwras boardband Internet. It is the best offer for boardband Internet in Oman. You can browse Internet 24/7 and at the end of month you will pay at maximum 29 O.R. It utilizes a wireless technology called EDGE. It give you more upload/download speed than Omantel ADSL. But Now I hope get job as soon as possible.

Huda is a Palestinian girl. One day, She and her family decided to go to the beach to have fun. They collect all necessary things for that purpose. In the beach everything seemed to be stay in peace. After while, a sudden attack changed everything to blood and sadness. No one was carrying weapons or missiles. Most of Huda family killed by the Israel army. These are some pictures tells her tragedy.

What do you think about a big family? Is it enjoyable? In this post I'm going to talk about my experience about BIG family. I mean with big family not just your brothers and sisters but also your aunts, uncles and their children. To put you in the picture my family from my father side contains more than 60 members and from my mother side is the same or more! Moreover it is still increasing and every year there is a new guest. These numbers are restricted only to the first and second levels of my family's relationship.
With that family you need to be active and talent to maintain a good relationship with all. You need also to be there in any event and offer your support to them. On other hand, if you organize an event, you can expect they will help you too.
The dark side of the big family comes when you aren't free. To demonstrate that I will give you an example of a friend of mine. He always visit his aunt weekly but I can not. He has only one aunt but I have 5 from my mother side and 6 from my father side. I must admit that I can not visit my aunts weekly even not monthly. Another thing Have you imagined that you must memorize more than 120 names?
Anyway It is still enjoyable !! At least you will find someone cares about you and your news.

Ok, let me introduce myself. I'm Zayed Al-Saidi form Sultanate of Oman. I've graduated from Sultan Qaboos University. I'm just fresh graduated Engineer.
I've started blogging since October 2004 but in Arabic. I have good experiences in computer (hardware and software).
